Back Cosmo is the first cat I adopted back in January of 2021, and he's quite shy. Most people
never get to see him, other than as a pair of eyes glowing under the couch. When I adopted
him he was a tiny feral kitten, and it took quite a while to earn his trust. I initially
kept him in my bathroom in order to incrementally introduce him to my apartment. As such, he
became quite fond of sleeping in the sink. Despite it being a slightly tighter fit these
days, he's still a big fan. He also enjoys playing with water, and will wade in up to his
elbows if the water is warm. As a COVID cat, Cosmo has a lot of experience interrupting virtual meetings. As life
returned to normal, I was worried that he would have trouble with me being out of the house.
I decided to adopt Stella in order to give him some company whenever I was away, but that
didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped. I did everything I could to help them become good
friends, including building a cat-proof pet gate so they could safely meet each other. Unfortunately
it seems they weren't meant to be close friends, but at least they eventually learned to coexist
in relative peace. Cosmo's Favorite Pastimes
- Sleeping in comical positions on his cat tree
- Invading Stella's personal space
- Meowing incessantly any time I open a can of anything
- Watching birds and squirrels in the backyard
- Crying at 3am if there are any guests sleeping in the house
- Eating bugs and then throwing up on the rug

Stella was the second cat I adopted, and she couldn't be more different from Cosmo. A
huge social butterfly, she loves meeting guests at the door and will sometimes give them a
sommersault show. Stella was also a stray, but she was in her teenage cat years and already
pretty confident around people when I adopted her. Although she loves being around people,
she has a lot of trouble sitting still when you pet her and is quick to let you know when
she's had too much stimulation. On occasions where she'll get comfy and let you pet her
more, Stella will express her appreciation by drooling all over you in a state of bliss.
Stella is incredibly fast, but unfortunately quite clumsy as well. This combination makes
for some excellent drifting action on hardwood floors, especially during her extensive
post-poop zoomies. Stella is also a surprisingly picky eater when it comes to people food.
To this day, the only thing she's eaten besides her kibble has been a piece of steak. Quite
the expensive taste! Stella's Favorite Pastimes
- Sleeping on random items
- Inspecting groceries before I put them away
- Hissing at Cosmo, usually because he deserved it
- Exploring the basement, or crying because I won't open the basement door
- Chasing shadows
- Snoring
